The Sexuality and Gender Awareness Club will hold its first meeting of the new year today at lunch in room 3. All those who support equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are welcome to attend. We will be discussing our first field trip! Grab your lunch first, and meet in room 3 today!
 
 
ROC: If you are a junior interested in ROC for next year, there will be a tour of the facilities on January 24.  See Mrs. Elias to sign up.
 
 
WORK PERMITS: If you had a work permit last semester, it may be expiring soon, so check with Mrs. Elias. Also, if you work after school or on the weekends and you have not notified Mrs. Elias, you could be missing on earning 5 additional credits each semester.  See Mrs. Elias for more information.
 
 
TAFT COLLEGE: Taft college application will be Wednesday, January 30th. See Mrs. Elias for information if you are interested.
 
 
 
BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE: If you applied to Bakersfield College last December, the next step in your registration process will take place next Tuesday, January 15 here at Nueva.  If you missed it but still want to apply, see Mrs. Elias as soon as possible.

Dear Students: School begins at 8:45 every day.  Please make sure to come on time so that you can have a great breakfast.  The cafeteria will stop serving breakfast at 8:40.
 
 
The film, The Freedom Writers, tells a story about a teacher and her students who change their world through writing and education. There will be a screening of the film, Freedom Writers, in room 1 today during lunch.  Please come and enjoy the film.  Thank you to Dr. Wheat for hosting this film in your classroom.
 
The real-life teacher, Erin Grewal, who is portrayed in the movie, will be speaking to students at the Harvey Auditorium in Bakersfield tomorrow, January 10 at 4 pm.  If you would like to hear her speak and to be inspired, then you are invited to a field trip tomorrow.  A bus will leave at 3:15 tomorrow to take you to the event.  It will return at 6:30.  Food will be provided for students who are interested. Please see Mr. Marquez for more information and a permission slip.
