Welcome back and Happy New Year! Let’s start the New Year right by giving back to our community through volunteering. If you would like to participate please sign up with Ms. Ramirez in the office during break or at lunch. Our first project this year will be a graffiti removal/ clean up on January 15th, 2018 at 10am. We will be meeting at the David Head Center on San Diego Street at 9:30. Remember, every 12 hours of Community Service equals 1 credit.
If you are graduating in the spring, please order your cap & gown by Feb. 28th. If you order before the deadline, your cost is $17.50. A late fee will be added to all orders after February 28. Order forms are available in the office. You may place your order with Mrs. Gabion in the office.
SENIORS
If you are graduating at the end of this school year, Mrs. Elias will start working with you regarding your college and financial aid application. If you have a social security number, a TIN number, or a DACA number, you will need that information for both applications. See Mrs. Elias if you have questions.
BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE
A representative from BC will be coming to Nueva next Wednesday to help potential graduates with their BC application. Mrs. Elias will send notices to those of you that are potential graduates so that you don’t miss this opportunity.
Seniors, if you are interested in attending Taft College a representative will be available on January 29th for an orientation and application process. Please sign up with Ms. Ramirez to reserve your spot.
FAFSA NIGHT
Nueva will hold its second FAFSA night on February 15. If you are a potential graduate, you and one of your parents must attend. This is the only date in which we will have financial aid experts to help you navigate through the application. See Mrs. Elias if you have questions.
PARTIAL DAY
If you don’t have a full-day schedule, you must sign in/out every day on the “partial day” sign in sheet in the office. See Mrs. Elias if you have questions.
WORK EXPERIENCE CREDIT
If you work after school or the weekends, see Mrs. Elias to find out if you qualify to receive additional credit for working.
The Sexuality and Gender Awareness Club welcomes all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning students and their Straight allies to meet today at lunch in room 3 to discuss upcoming activities. Bring your lunch with you!
