Today is an exciting scientific phenomenon, a total Solar Eclipse, will be visible throughout North America. The city of Bakersfield will experience a partial solar eclipse between 9:04 am and 11:43 am. Viewing an eclipse can present some risks. According to NASA, looking directly into the sun is unsafe and can result in eye damage. NASA advises the only safe way to look at the partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as "eye glasses." Please refrain from looking directly into the sun.
