NATIONAL CALIFORNIA DAY!

Did you know: On February 22nd, National California Day recognizes the Golden State. Under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Mexico sold California along with its territories north of the Rio Grande for 15 million dollars.

 

Today in History: George Washington is born in Westmoreland County, Virginia On February 22, 1732, the first of six children of Augustine and Mary Ball Washington. An initially loyal British subject, Washington eventually led the Continental Army in the American Revolution and became the new nation's first president.

 

First Black Vice President: In 2021, Kamala Harris became the first woman of African or Asian descent to become vice president. Harris's mother immigrated to the United States from India and her father immigrated from Jamaica.
