NATIONAL JOHNNY APPLESEED DAY!

 Did you know:  March 11th – On National Johnny Appleseed Day, we remember a man who made apple (and pear) trees bloom across the nation. The day celebrates a kindly legend who lived by sage teachings and labored to bring the shade of fruit trees across much of the United States.

 

Today‌ ‌in‌ ‌History:‌‌  General MacArthur leaves Corregidor

 After struggling against great odds to save the Philippines from Japanese conquest, U.S. General Douglas MacArthur abandons the island fortress of Corregidor under orders from President Franklin Roosevelt.

 

Eleanor Roosevelt held all-woman press conferences.

The First Lady held the first press conference for women reporters on March 6, 1933. She would cover issues “of special interest and value to the women of the country,” according to the National Women's History Museum.
