National Employee Appreciation Day!

Did you know: National Employee Appreciation Day on the first Friday in March each year focuses attention on employees in all industries. Employers across the country in business and organizations plan employee recognition and celebrations. Employee achievement and contributions are honored.

 

Today in History: Hula Hoop patented

March 5, 1963: the Hula Hoop, a hip-swiveling toy that became a huge fad across America when it was first marketed by Wham-O in 1958, is patented by the company’s co-founder, Arthur “Spud” Melin. An estimated 25 million Hula Hoops were sold in its first four months of production alone.

 

Until Congress passed the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974, women couldn't get credit cards in their own name. Legal work done by late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg laid the foundation.
