Marching Music Day!

Did you know: March forth to the rhythm of life on Marching Music Day every March 4th. Honor the dedicated musicians and performers of many diverse styles and backgrounds. Marching Music Day celebrates all varieties of art forms that bring us “music on the move.”

 

Today in History: First cases reported in deadly 1918 flu pandemic

Just before breakfast on the morning of March 4, Private Albert Gitchell of the U.S. Army reports to the hospital at Fort Riley, Kansas, complaining of the cold-like symptoms of sore throat, fever and headache. Soon after, over 100 of his fellow soldiers had reported similar symptoms, marking what are believed to be the first cases in the historic influenza pandemic of 1918, later known as Spanish flu.

 

Geraldyn "Jerrie" Cobb was the first woman to pass astronaut testing in 1961. But she wasn't allowed to travel to space due to her gender.
